New JATP Procedures for 2023-2024 Admissions Season

The JATP (Joint Admissions Testing Program) is required for applicants grades K-5 at a number of AAAIS-member Atlanta schools (Galloway, Heritage Prep, Holy Innocents’, Lovett, Mount Vernon, Pace, St. Francis, St. Martin’s, Trinity, Walker, Wesleyan, Westminster, and Whitefield). This evaluation may only be administered once per admissions season and is a valuable component of an application to an independent school. As of next week, new changes are coming to the way parents can register for the JATP.

  • On September 18th at 6pm, there will be a JATP webinar on the JATP website that outlines new procedures. You can access that information here.  Co-Chairs Dr. Michael Bucovetsky and Dr. Beth-Sarah Wright are excited to share updates to the new JATP registration process and give parents an opportunity to ask questions.

  • On September 19th, the registration process for the 2023-2024 admissions season will go live.

  • At that time, parents will be able to select a psychologist from the JATP website.

  • You will see a link to select a date and time (directly from the JATP website) and make a payment. On the same portal, you will fill out a registration form to notify  the psychologist of your requested appointment.

  • Did you know that financial assistance for JATP testing is available? All requests for a reduced fee must be approved by a JATP school before making an appointment with a psychologist. Please contact the school’s Director of Financial Assistance here.

  • Be sure to “delegate” the psychologist of your choice into your Ravenna Hub Account. Note: If applying to St. Francis, you will omit this step.

  • Note: While we encourage parents to register for the JATP as soon as possible (remember, there is no advantage to waiting until your child is older or more mature as this test is age-normed), we understand that scheduling conflicts come up. However, we are anticipating another record-breaking year in independent school admissions and coupled with a dicey cold/flu season, we are advising parents to schedule their child’s evaluation as soon as possible. If you do not see the date and time you want (only most immediate dates will be listed first), please know that more dates will become available on a rolling basis, with more dates and times being added each day, to the discretion of each psychologist.

  • We invite you to take a look on the JATP website where you can register for the upcoming webinar (it will be recorded, as well!) and check out their FAQ page.

  • The chairmanship of JATP rotates every two years among the JATP member schools. The Chair for the 2022-2024 term is Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School. Please contact Director of Enrollment Management, Dr. Beth-Sarah Wright, if you have questions regarding JATP, its policies, or procedures.
